May Day Dancing

On Tuesday 22nd May, St Mary's held its annual May Day dance on Church Green with The Batt School.  The weather was glorious and the children's dancing was joyful.

The children participated in two dances, 'Dusty Bluebells' and 'I See You'.  Our Year 2 children also preformed an impressive dance around the maypole where they weaved theor ribbons in and out with great skill.

The tradition of May Day dancing at St Mary's goes back for many years and holds a special place in the heart of the Witney community. Many parents and grandparents fondly recall dancing wiht the school.

As usual, all the children came to school with small posies of flowers which were then sold in aid of charity.  This year St Mary's nominated charity was 'Heads Together', the mental health charity supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.  The charity seeks to get people talking about mental health.  Jointly St Mary's and The Batt raised £481 for this special charity.
