We understand that working in partnership with our parents is key in supporting children’s learning.

If you have any questions during the course of the year please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the team at the beginning or end of the day or alternatively make an appointment via the School Office.

The curriculum for the Reception class underpins all future learning by supporting, fostering, promoting and developing the children’s learning in the seven areas of the Reception curriculum.

All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.

Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, are:

  • communication and language;
  • physical development; and
  • personal, social and emotional development.

The four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied are:

  • literacy;
  • mathematics;
  • understanding the world; and
  • expressive arts and design
